Research Assistantship: 18th century Spanish Archival Records | UBC | Deadline: before April 30, 2024

Professor Mauricio Drelichman is seeking to hire a research assistant for a project involving the digitization, transcription, and analysis of eighteenth century archival records from Spain. The position is full-time (35 hours/week) starting May 1st and ending August 21. Hybrid work arrangements are possible. The position is funded through the Arts WLIURA program, and hence only international students in the faculty of Arts are eligible to apply.

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • International student status, enrolled in the Faculty of Arts
  • Native fluency in Spanish
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong writing skills to document all activities and procedures

Additional Qualifications (an asset but not necessary):

  • Completed ECON 325 and/ or 326 (or equivalent)
  • Stata skills
  • Experience with OCR software
  •  Experience with historical or archival documentation
